The watches in this range are either radio-controlled
or quartz. Watches described as radio-controlled are able to receive
the European time signal throughout Europe from Scotland to Cyprus, and,
in practice, as far as Jerusalem. Radio-controlled watches are so accurate
that they all tick at the same time and any differences between them are
imperceptible. Watches described as multifrequency can also receive
the time signals in the United States of America and the Japanese islands
- these are most suitable for frequent travellers between these places.
Radio-controlled watches have a perpetual calendar function - the
correct date is always shown without the need for adjustment. Radio-controlled
watches automatically adjust for when the clocks go forward or backward
with the change of seasons.
When radio-controlled watche leave parts of the world covered by tine
signals they continue to function as high-quality quartz watches. Radio-controlled
watches, known as atomic watches in some parts of the world, were invented
by Junghans, and Junghans remain the leaders in this technology.
The second hands of Junghans radio-controlled watches leap in whole seconds
and the minute hand moves in leaps of whole minutes making it easier to
read off precise lapses of time.
The watches shown below are superior in quality and manufacture. All
watches have sapphire crystals and many are water resistant to
5 or 10 atmospheres. All have very clear dials and many have large
dates. The Voyager range have both titanium cases and bracelets
(which have titanium butterfly clasps).
